Friends of Quarantine Station Inc
are conducting their second AGM on Sept 23rd at 1:30p.m. at the
Manly Community Centre,
upstairs at 12 Wentworth St, Manly
After the meeting, we will
proceed to Manly Art Gallery for a forum on "Migration and
Displacement".

Nathalie Hartog has created art work based
on postcards received from former inhabitants of Manly Quarantine Station or
their relatives.
Friends of Quarantine Station Inc
have produced an informative brochure in full colour featuring
photography of the Quarantine Station by Doug Sewell.

| Working group
for Precinct Plans |
Friends of Quarantine Station Inc were involved in the working group that
studied the detailed Conservation
Management Plans for the 6 precincts within the Quarantine Station. The
first meeting of this group was on October 31st, 2000.

The first Annual General Meeting of
Friends of Quarantine Station Inc will take place on Sunday 19th November,
2pm, at the Conference Centre of the Quarantine Station. There will be a
speaker at this event to talk about the Aboriginal heritage of North Head.

Research Grant Application |
Friends of Quarantine Station applied for a History Grant through the Centenary of Federation 20001
Committee. If we had been successful, we would have been helping to complete the
cataloguing of all ships and people who were quarantined at the Station
during its operation. But our application was refused.
| Dinner with Peter Garrett |
On Wednesday 31st May we held a fund-raising dinner party with Peter
Garrett as speaker attended by 110 people who all seemed to have a fun
night. It was inspiring to hear Peter Garrett speaking about
Environmental concerns and actions taking place both locally and
internationally.
| At 10:30am on the 16th
December, at Manly Library, there was a launch of this
website to which many people involved in its creation were invited. |

A stall was held on 5th December near Manly
Wharf from 9a.m. till 4pm on Ocean Outfall Day.

A stall was held on 31st October -
in Manly Corso - from 10a.m. till 4pm - followed by the Short
Black Film Festival till 8p.m.

Station have been printed with a very attractive red on cream design
- they cost $15 each. |

So many petition forms have been filled with
names of people who do not wish to see a headlease signed on the Quarantine
Station that a new page of signatures has been tabled in parliament every
day for the last few months. Petition forms are available from David Barr's
Office in Sydney Road, Manly.

Stories
from people who have been
quarantined at the Quarantine Station are being published on
this website. We would encourage anyone who has a story from their own
or a relative's life to contact us.
