The Quarantine Station stands on North Head - at the entrance to Sydney Harbour and from the balconies of the Station there are magnificent views across the harbour.

The station is bordered along the western side by the waters of the harbour with cliffs, beaches and inlets amongst the rocks of which live the famous fairy penguins.

Fishing was a popular pastime for the healthy people waiting at the Quarantine Station for clearance to settle in Australia.
