Conservation Plan |
Situation as at July, 2000
During 1999, the Heritage Council rejected the 1992 Conservation Plan for the Quarantine Station so the National Parks and Wildlife Service appointed Peter Freeman to prepare recommendations that would enable them to have an acceptable Conservation Plan. Peter Freeman invited interested members of the public to prepare submissions that clarified their concerns. There were over 40 submissions.
On March 1st the Heritage Council ruled that the Conservation Management Plan 2000 needed more work. Peter Freeman is now working on revising it. In April the final version of the CMP was approved by the Heritage Council.

During January, 2000, a further opportunity was provided for the public to comment on the Conservation Management Plan published by Peter Freeman and Associates. These submissions were forwarded to the Heritage Council on 10th February, 2000, for assessment together with the CMP. Early in March the Heritage Council has made a ruling on the adequacy of the CMP. There were more than 25 final submissions. In April the CMP was approved by the Heritage Council.
