Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame is directing the feature film which is based on a musical by the late Rent writer Jonathan Larson.

Production apparently resumed this month after being shut down in March shortly after it began on account of the coronavirus lockdowns.

Vanessa, who was self-isolating in Los Angeles, was first seen in New York City this Tuesday while heading to the set.

When she and Andrew were seen turning up to the shoot on Wednesday they were wearing both masks and protective face shields.

Vanessa appeared to be wearing the same costume on Wednesday as she did on Tuesday – a tight black top with a matching skirt, a gleaming belt and leather boots.

She had a large red hairdo and wrapped a charcoal jacket around the ensemble this Wednesday just as she had the day before.

Meanwhile Andrew’s look on Wednesday included a blue hoodie, which he wore over a white top that was tucked into loose-fitted grey trousers.

He is playing the aptly named Jon who is striving toward his dream of being a Broadway composer but is spinning his wheels.

Tick, Tick… Boom! is Lin-Manuel’s first turn at film directing since the 1996 comedy Clayton’s Friends, which was only 59 minutes long.

Jonathan wrote Tick, Tick… Boom! and performed it as an off-off Broadway one-man show in 1990, years before Rent made him famous.

In the musical, the leading man Jon faces a personal crisis as he considers getting out of show business and leading a stable life.

The real Jonathan Larson eventually earned his place in musical theater history with the smash 1996 show Rent – but did not live to see his success.

He died aged 35 of an undiagnosed aortic dissection the morning of Rent’s first off-Broadway preview in January 1996.

Later that year, the show opened on Broadway and was a massive triumph, earning Jonathan a posthumous Pulitzer Prize For Drama among other honors.

A half-decade later Tick, Tick…Boom! was reworked into an off-Broadway piece with three actors, each playing multiple characters.

Lin-Manuel’s movie cast – which includes Hudgens, Robin De Jesus and Alexandra Shipp – will play one character apiece.

Vanessa earned praise in January 2019 by playing the scene-stealing role of Maureen in a FOX televised production of Rent.

Rent, Sunday In The Park With George and Hamilton are all among the only nine musicals ever to win the Pulitzer Prize For Drama.

Iconic stage songwriter Stephen Sondheim, who had a Broadway theater renamed after him in 2010, is depicted in Tick, Tick…Boom! as someone Jon idolizes.

The score also contains a song called Sunday about Jon’s job in a diner, a spoof of the song of the same name from Stephen’s show Sunday In The Park With George.

Lin-Manuel has worked with Stephen before – he and his father Luis translated some of Stephen’s West Side Story lyrics into Spanish for a bilingual revival.

However rather than casting Stephen to play himself in the movie, Lin-Manuel has selected Bradley Whitford, who won an Emmy as Josh Lyman on The West Wing.
